Since graduating from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2003, Abs has taught singing, violin and music theory to all ages, both privately and in schools. She is an experienced singing teacher, choir director and workshop leader, preparing singers for numerous performances and shows. Abs has successfully entered her students for vocal, violin and music theory examinations (ABRSM, LCME, RSL, Trinity). As well as teaching peripatetically, she has taught curriculum music in secondary schools KS3-5, including GCSE, A Level and BTEC L2&3 courses. Abs is an ISM Registered Private Teacher, holds a enhanced DBS disclosure certificate and child protection certificate.
Abs has studied singing with Ava June, Mary Burman, and Tania Williams. Abs specialised in vocal performance at university, winning first prize in the prestigious Alan Parnell Singing Competition and several prizes in The Kent Singing Competition. She has continued to sing as a soloist, performing a variety of genres including jazz and classical.
Abs began learning the violin when she was 8 and continued her training through school and university. She has played in many orchestral concerts and in smaller ensembles for weddings.
Abs currently performs for weddings and events and is also working on writing and recording projects.
